They are chosen when a large outer diameter is required for an increased bearing surface and surface load reduction – the wider circumference is designed to disperse pressure. These fender washers are commonly used in sheet metal work, plumbing and electrical applications. The washers also prevent a nut, bolt, or screw of the same finish and size from pulling through material. The steel material offers durability and reliability while the zinc plating offers moderate protection against rust and corrosion .
